Biography:
Matthew Jacobs was born in Britain the son of actor Anthony Jacobs. After a relatively brief
stint as a child actor for BBC TV and The National Youth Theatre, he began working behind the
camera in his teens as an assistant editor for Ridley Scott Associates then went to Hull University
to study drama under the likes of Anthony Minghella. So with an eclectic training in both theatre
and film, he graduated the National Film and Television School in 1982 and quickly established
himself as a screenwriter and director for both TV and the big screen. In the early 90s he moved to
San Francisco where he and his sons still live. He continues to work both sides of the Atlantic
in both the mainstream and independent arenas.
